    Lt Landon Carter Catlett, Jr, U.S. Army Air Corps, was born February 11, 1898, in Gloucester, Virginia. He died in the crash of his pursuit plane near Fort Kamehameha, Hawaii, July 17, 1925. A graduate of the United States Military Academy, he was a pioneer in aviation, having received his commission in October, 1918. In letters to his family he expressed his love of flying and his vision of the future contributions of air flight. He regarded service to his country a high and honorable calling.
