Our father, Lieutenant J. G. William “The Dutchman” Val Alstine flew the TBM Avenger Torpedo Bomber for the Navy in WW II. He flew over 40 missions in the Pacific from the carrier USS Tulagi (CVE 72). He received three Air Medals for bravery. We are very proud of him.
