Representing NASA, served on three-man committee for selection of the first seven astronauts. Developed qualification requirements and recruiting sources; helped review over 5000 military test pilot personnel records; interviewed 110 men called to Washington, eliminating all but 32 who were then sent elsewhere for physiological and stress testing, and coordinating program through Final selection of seven.
