On a flight at Holloman Air Force Base, a star-like object descended out of space and hovered above my aircraft. It was at an estimated altitude of 100,000 feet, 33 feet in diameter, and was brilliantly illuminated in the clear blue sky. On its departure, three flashes of light obscured it from sight.

At Wright Field, I flew a B-25 to provide escort for a fighter to join up on me. After one hour the Soviet Mig left and landed. 20 years later, I was informed that the pilot was Chuck Yeager.
