Completed 35 combat missions in a B-17 as a Flight /Deputy Squadron Navigator with the 322nd Sqdn, 91st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. Survived damage to B-17 (Wee Willie Mostly) on all 35 combat missions, including two crash landings in Belgium. Awarded three Battle Stars, the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters plus other decorations and medals. Recalled for active duty for Korean Conflict. Served as Contracting Officer, USAF communications service. Administered O& M contracts for portions of BMEWS system and repair of the North Atlantic underwater cable System to Europe. Earned the USAFE Outstanding Procurement Officer Award in 1967 and again in 1968. Retired 1-Sep-1968.
