    Born September 14, 1922, Bradner, OH. Grew up in Findlay, OH. Attended Northwestern University and on September 2, 1942 enlisted as Aviation Cadet. Went through pilot training in Class 44-A, received pilot’s wings and 2nd Lt. commission on January 7, 1944.
    Following RTU training in P-51s was sent to England and was assigned to the 4th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force, which in 1942 was created from three RAF Squadrons and at the end of WWII was credited with destroying more than 1,000 enemy aircraft. Flew 30 combat missions destroying one ME 109 in the air on September 11, 1944. Awarded Air Medal, 3 OLCs. Combat career ended on January 18, 1945 after a crash landing following unsuccessful air-sea rescue mission. Returned to U.S. and served as P-47 instructor until released from active duty in September 1945. Stayed in Reserve until retiring as Lt. Col. in JAG on September 2, 1982.
    Received Commercial Pilot’s License in 1945 and continued flying until 1995. Served as President of The Association of the Fourth Fighter Group, WWII, 1993-1995.
