LtCol Robert L. Kleyla as a Bombardier on B-17 aircraft “Jack the Ripper” of the 324th Squadron, 91st Bomb Group (H) 8th Air Force participated on the first American air raid on Nazi Germany 27 Jan 1943.
As a military, detailed to the Central Intelligence Agency 1956-1961 he planned intelligence overflights of the Soviet Union using U-2 and other types of aircraft. He was a veteran of the early and late Cold War in addition to WWII and Korea.
