John grew up in Big Rapids, Michigan. John attended the US Naval Academy in 1959 and graduated in 1963.
Following flight training he was assigned to an A4C squadron aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard aircraft carrier. After only six weeks in Vietnam and 14 missions he was reported missing in action on 19 October 1965. No trace of him has been uncovered. He was my best friend.
