Buford Whitney Council was born September 12, 1916, in Manatee County, Florida. Following Pearl Harbor, Council enlisted in the U. S, Army Air Corps and underwent flight training with the class of 42K. Following advanced training in multi-engine transport aircraft, he was assigned duty with the Central African Flight Wing of the Air Transport Command.
Council remained in the USAFR, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel. He served as the Executive Officer of the 9329th Air Recovery Squadron station at Tampa, Florida. Council in Rusltin, FL., May 8, 2003.
