    Enlisted in the Air Corps January 19,1942. Completed Aircraft Mechanic's Course and was sent to an operational fighter unit as assistant crew chief on a P-38. In November of 1942 applied for and was accepted as an Aviation Cadet. Completed pilot training and graduated as class 43-H. Flew PT-19, BT-13, AT-6, BC-1, L-5, P-39, P-40, P-47, and P-51's during this period. Served in both US and SEA bases during WW2. Was on Okinawa when the War ended and among the first units occupying bases in Japan. Was in the inactive reserve for 6 years and recalled in 1952 . Since being recalled served in operational positions from squadron level to the Pentagon, from line pilot to Group operations officer. Flying duties ranged from carrying both military and civilian VIP'S in T-39's on official business, to flying combat bombing and staffing missions over both North and South Viet Nam in B-57 air craft. Military awards include the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, 14 Air Medals and 2 battle stars on the Southwest Pacific Theater ribbon. Retired voluntarily in 1970 after 29 years service.
