Lt Col Dean was a navigator in transport aircraft from 1961 to 1992. He accumulated 8300 hours of flying time in C-47, C-119, C-130, C-135 and C-5 aircraft. In addition to serving as a crewmember, Lt Col Dean also held positions as an operations officer and a logistics plans officer in the 512 Airlift Wing (Assoc) at Dover AFB, DE.
