    LtCol John C. "J.C." Speight was born on Dadeville, MO on 15 January 1924. In 1926 his family moved to Visalia, CA.

    In January 1943 he entered the US Army Air Corps, attended radio-operator-gunner school at Sioux Falls, SD and aerial gunner school at Las Vegas, NV. In November 1943 he was transferred to Kearns, UT and assigned to a combat bomber crew. After combat crew training at Alexandria, LA and subsequent radar "Mickey" training at Langley Field, VA he completed 50 sorties with the 2nd Bomber Group, 96th Bomber Squadron, 15th Air Force.

    He received a direct commission on 25 June 1950, served as Assistant Avammo Supply Officer of the 5th Air Force in Korea, and retired 15 January 1984. LtCol Speight passed away on 27 May 2013.
