Graduating from Michigan State University with a Civil Engineering degree and a commission as 2nd Lieutenant, he was assigned to
the Air Corps Tactical School, Maxwell Field, Montgomery, AL in August
1941. He served in training and engineering units within Headquarters
AAF and the Materiel Command. Retired from active duty as a Lt._C_olonel
in October 1946. In 1948 he was called upon to organize the local Air Reserve Squadron in Allentown, PA. Later he commanded the 9544th
and the 9200th Air Reserve Recovery Squadrons. Like many reservists,
the Colonel experienced an active life: employed as an engineer,
serving in community projects, raising a large family and commanding
reserve units. He retired from the Air Reserve in April 1979.
