    In 1945 prior to the end of WWII sixteen year old Jim Hochberg was employed as a riveter at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA where he worked on final assembly of both the C-47 and the C-54. As a Lt. and Capt. He commanded air defense batteries and field artillery batteries. As a Major he was assigned to NATO’s Air Central Europe as Senior Army Air Defense officer in Sector Four of Air Defense Command at the bunker in Bofinc, Germany. He completed his military career as a LtCol retiring in Hawaii from the staff of the Commander-in-Chief Pacific.
