    Lorin Trubschenck was born 9 July 1918 and died 21 August 2010.

    Upon completion of 4 years in the Naval Reserve training program (1937-1941), Colonel Trubschenck entered his aviation career as a cadet, September 28, 1941. He completed Cadet Training April 24, 1942 and entered active duty as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps.

    In April 1943 he proceeded to the South Pacific with the 390th Bomb Squadron (medium) (B-25), 13th Air Force. Upon completion of 42 combat missions he returned from the South Pacific in April 1944.

    Lorin was sent to the east coast and became an A-20 training instructor pilot, then on to 9th Air Force Headquarters in Europe. As an A-20 pilot, he reviewed training programs for deployment of units to the South Pacific.

    Separated from active duty in late 1945 and returned to Yosemite National Park as Director, Yosemite Ski School.

    Recalled to active duty in September 1948 and soon thereafter moved to 5th AF Headquarters in Japan. Flew with Crawford's Commandos upon start of the Korean War and then FEAMCOM in support of Korean Air Material units in Korea.

    Returned to USA in 1951 and assigned to Special Weapons Command and participated in Nevada atomic tests.

    Retired from active duty as Commanding Officer, Indian Springs AFB, Nevada, December 24, 1953. Remained in active reserve in Base Operations at McClellan AFB, CA until retired from USAF July 9, 1978.

    Charter member Reserve Officers Association, sustaining life member Aerospace Education Foundation, American Air Museum, 13th AF Association, 5th AF Memorial Foundation. Life member, Professional Ski Instructors of America.
