Entered the Air Force through the Officer Training School (OTS) at Lackland AFB, TX in 1965. His first assignment as a 2nd Lt. was to the 398th Strategic Missile Wing at Little Rock AFB, AR as part of a Titan II Launch Crew. The rest of his career was spent with two tours to SAC Headquarters at Offutt AFB, NE, one tour to Patrick AFB FL as part of the Satellite monitory program. After cross training in the weather field, Captain Nicolaus spent a one year remote tour to Tule, Greenland. He finished out his tour with a four year stint at Sembach AB, Germany as Commander 21st Operational Weather Squadron. He retired as a Lt. Col.
