    Enlisted in the U.S. Army Nov 9, 1940. He was stationed at Hickam Field as a B-17 aircraft mechanic in the 26th Bomb Squadron and survived the Pearl Harbor attack.

    He flew the Battle of Midway as a Flight Engineer on a B-17. He was commissioned in 1945 as a B-29 Flight Engineer.

    He joined the Michigan Air National Guard in 1947 and became the Chief of Maintenance. In 1950 he was activated and served as Chief of Maintenance for the 4th Fighter Wing in the Korean conflict. He returned to the Michigan Air National Guard as a full-time member.

    In 1962 he served as Liaison Officer between the Air Guard and Task Force 8 during the nuclear tests in the mid-Pacific.

    He was named Deputy Commander of Materiel of the 110th Tactical Reconnaissance Group in 1963. He retired in 1975 after over 35 years of military service. He passed on Oct 8, 2001 and his ashes were scattered on Pearl Harbor.
