    Born Ayden NC 25 Aug 1921, entered active duty 17 Sep in the Asiatic Pacific theater 18 Dec 1942 to 1 May 44 and 7 Oct to 1 Nov 45. Participated in Campaigns; Air Offensive Japan, Papua, China Defensive, New Guinea, Northern Solomons, Bismarck-Archipelago, Western Pacific, Luzon, Southern Philippines, and China Offensive. He flew 279 combat missions for 765 combat hours as a P-38 and P-40 pilot destroying 7 enemy aircraft definite, and 5 probable. Served other overseas duty in England 27 Sep 1950 to 19 may 1953 and Libya from 9 Jan 1957 to 29 Jun 1959. During his military career he was awarded decorations and awards; Distinguished Service Cross; Silver Star; Purple Heart w/ 1 oak leaf cluster; Distinguished Unit with 3 oak leaf clusters; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. After retiring from the USAF 31 Oct 1963 held the position of Manager for Engineering Design, Construction, Operation & Maintenance with 2 corps supporting US Military and other US Government agencies until retiring in 1984.
