    LtCol Stan Luther, USAF (Ret) served as an enlisted man in the United States Navy for 14 months at the end of World War II.

    He served in the United States Air Force as a regular officer for 28 years. During that time he flew C-124s during the Korean War; B-47s during the Cold War, was squadron commander of the 356th Tactical Fighter Squadron in Japan and an 0-2 pilot in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He also flew the C-47 during his assignment as Defense Attache, United States of America Embassy in Madagascar.

    After retirement from the USAF in 1978 he became a certified flight instructor and taught flying in Spokane, Washington, and Astoria, Oregon, until August 1999. Colonel Luther has always been an avid supporter of flying and continues to fly his own C-150 Cessna. He is active in the Oregon Pilots Association and The Retired Officers Association.
