    Lieutenant Colonel Taro Kimura Jones was born on 4 August 1957, in Washington D.C. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1975. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University in Sociology in 1980. Upon graduation from Howard University, he was commissioned a second lieutenant though the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. (ROTC).
    Lieutenant Colonel Jones came on active duty in 1980, and became a Flightline maintenance officer after attending the Aircraft Maintenance Officer Course (AMOC). He was assigned to McGuire AFB, NJ in 1981, where he held various maintenance officer positions. In 1985, he applied and was accepted into a special duty assignment in the 89tn Military Airlift Wing, which provides airlift for the President of the United States, Vice President, and members of Congress and foreign dignitaries. In 1988, Lieutenant Colonel Jones left the active duty Air Force to accept a full-time position as the Avionics Maintenance Officer for the 113th Wing, District of Columbia Air National Guard. Lieutenant Colonel Jones has served in various maintenance and management functions within the 113th Wing. He is presently the 113th Logistics Squadron Commander, encompassing Supply, Transportation, Contracting and the Transportation Management Office (TMO).
    Lieutenant Colonel Jones is a graduate of the in-resident course for both the Squadron Officers' School (SOS), and the Air Command and Staff College (ACSC). He is also a graduate of the DoD Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP), Reserve Component National Security Course (RCNSC) and the Air War College (AWC).
    Lieutenant Colonel Jones serves on the Mayor's Advisory Board on Veterans Affairs for the District of Columbia. He is a Life Member of the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS), past president and Life Member of the National Guard Association of the District of Columbia (NGADC), associate member of the DC National Guard Enlisted Association (DCNGEA), a member of the Logistics Officers Association (LOA), a Life Member of the Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE) and a member of the Historical Society of Washington (HSW). He is also the immediate past president of the East Coast Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (ECCTAI), and a member of the Air Force Cadet Officer Mentoring Assistance Program (AFCOMAP). Lieutenant Colonel Jones holds a certificate as an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic (A&P license).
    Lieutenant Colonel Jones has been awarded the Airmen's Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 device, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 devices, Air Force Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 8 devices, District of Columbia Meritorious Service Medal.
    Lieutenant Colonel Jones is single, resides in the District of Columbia, and proud to be a third generation Washingtonian.
