“Air Corps Brat,” (son of Col. J.H. Fite, U. S. Army Air Corps), West Point Graduate, Class of ’45. Commissioned with pilot wings, 5 June 1945 (War Class). Served in Germany, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Flew with First Combined Air Strike Force to Turkey in B-57 (Lebanese Crisis, June “58). Planes flown include B-17, B-26, B-25 , B-57 and others. Two Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Medal. Retired on 1 August 1973, from Deputy Commander Mather AFB.
