William James Heath, Jr. was born in Del Rio, Texas on October 31,1954, son of Lt. and Mrs. William J. Heath. As a member of an Air Force family, he has always had a passion for aviation and the desire to fly. He was a Distinguished ROTC Graduate at the University of Arizona in 1977. He lost his USAF Pilot Training assignment due to the cut-back in 1977. Although extremely disappointed, Lt. Heath continued an Air Force career. Earning a Certified Public Accountant license, he served in the comptroller field, including assignments at Headquarters, Strategic Air Command and at the Pentagon. He was very active in community affairs, representing the Air Force in an outstanding manner. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1997, and is currently the Chief Financial Officer for the Sandia Preparatory School in Albuquerque. He and his wife Mary, have two children.
