    Honored by:

    Served in Army Air Forces as a woman pilot, Mar. 1943-Dec.1944. Military flight training at Avenger Field, Sweetwater, TX. Earned wings Sept. 1943. As a Woman Airforce Service Pilot (WASP WWII), ferried military aircraft within the USA and to Canada and was an Aircraft Maintenance Test Pilot at Shaw Army Field, Sumter, SC. Between WWII and Korean Wars, delivered civilian aircraft from factories to airfields and worked as Chief Flight Instructor at Culver Airport, CA.
    Accepted an Air Force Reserve Commission as a IstLtand called to active duty in Mar. 1951. As USAF policy prohibited use of women as pilots during the Korean War, She was placed in the Intelligence Career Field. Served at all levels of command from squadron to joint service.
    At time of retirement in 1971, LtCol Yvonne C. "Pat" Pateman was Chief of China Air and Missile Section, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). Stateside assignments in SAC; and overseas assignments in the Philippines, Japan, Alaska, and South Vietnam where in 1969 she was Chief, Warning Center, HQ 7th AF, Fan Son Nhut Airbase.
    For exceptional military service, she was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medals for service in a combat zone.
    LtCol Pateman was born 8 Sept. 1919, Seawaren, NJ.
