My husband Fred A. Boesvert was born on August 22, 1921. He joined the Navy when he was eighteen years old and after two years he was accepted into cadets and was sent to Pensacola, FL. He learned to fly and was graduated as a LTJG.

When he was discharged from the Navy he continued in the Naval Reserve while attending the Northrup Institute of Technology in Hawthorne, CA. Upon graduation he became an Aeronautical Engineer for Northrup. He missed flying so much that, when he heard United Airlines was hiring, he applied and was accepted in April 1952. He and continued flying for United until retiring in 1990.

Upon retirement he became a member of Retired United Pilots Association (RUPA). Fred passed away in July 2003.
