    Tom Storey entered the Navy in 1941. He trained as a pilot in Iowa City, IA, Kansas City, KS, Corpus Christi, TX, and Alameda, CA.

    He was stationed in the Fiji Islands. He flew a SBD dive bomber. During his Pacific tour he was lost at sea after crashing in the ocean. He survived in a raft for two days before the USS Jenkins, a Navy destroyer, came from New Caledonia, 1000 miles away, to rescue him.

    At the time of his discharge he held the rank of LTJG.
