Bud has been involved in aviation in one form or another nearly all his life. He was born with a fascination for flight and earned his pilot's license early in his youth. He served in the US Army and began training as an air traffic controller.

He worked for a start-up airline and then went to work for the Metropolitan Washington Aviation Authority as a ramp controller at Washington Dulles International Airport where he plans (as of 2005) to continue to work until he retires. Besides being around the industry he loves, he gets to witness the most spectacular sunsets in Virginia.
