    Maj. Endler began his aviation career by enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1941. He became a crew chief/flight engineer on a B-17 before being accepted into pilot training in 1944. Upon graduated as a 2nd Lt, he flew b-26s, b-25s as an instructor until the end of WWII. He remained in the USAF Reserve and was recalled during the Korean War. He remained on active duty , serving a tour of duty in Vietnam, until retirement in 1969. He remained on flight status his entire USAF career, logging over 10,000 hours flying time as a military and civilian pilot.
