Major Andrus Kibodeaux distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as pilot of an unarmed UC123 defoliation aircraft near LaMau, Republic of Vietnam on 5 July 1968. On that date, during a low-level defoliation mission over the U-Minh forest, Major Kibodeaux’s aircraft received intense and accurate hostile automatic weapons fire throughout the target run. Yet with complete disregard for his own personal safety, Major Kibodeaux continued the mission with precise formation. Major Kibodeaux received the DFC.
