Maj. Donald C. McMillen, Jr. graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in aerospace engineering in 1984. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1985 and received his commission as a second lieutenant at Lackland Air Force Base in November 1985. He proceeded to complete pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base in December 1986. He was selected for training at McDill Air Force Base as an F16 fighter pilot which he completed in 1987.
Don has served as an F16 pilot in South Carolina, South Korea and Germany. He is currently an F16 instructor pilot with the Arizona Air National Guard stationed in Tucson, Arizona.
