Graduate Dallas High School, valedictorian, attended University of Chicago two years entered U.S.M.A. in 1932 via Texas National guard exams.
Graduated in 1936, entered Air Corps after graduation. Served with 19th Bombardment wing in the Philippines, served at various bases and retired in 1965 as commandant of U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology.
He also served on General H.H. Arnold's staff. During his military career, he was instrumental in securing the release of P.O.W.s from North Korea.
