    "JD" earned his Air Force wings in 1952 and spent the first few years of his career in the Air Training Command. He then joined Strategic Air Command where he served with distinction as B-47 and B-52 lead crew commander and standardization officer.

    In 1968, he left active duty to join American Airlines and the Air Force Reserve. He served with the 728th Military Airlift Squadron of the 452d Military Airlift Wing flying C-124s at March AFB, CA and later helped the squadron transition to C-141s in the Associate program of the 445th MAW at Norton AFB, CA in 1972.

    Five years later, he assumed command of the first KC-135 tanker squadron given Associate status with the 452d Air Mobility Wing at March AFB. He subsequently assumed command of the 452d AMW where he was promoted to Brigadier General.

    In 1980 "JD" became a Mobilization Augmentee and advisor to the commander of the 10th Air Force where he soon earned his second star. MGen Moore was selected as MA to Commander, Strategic Air Command, serving as Air Force Reserve advisor to three consecutive commanders before retiring in ceremonies at Offutt AFB. NE. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit and the Distinguished Service medal. He retired as a Captain for American Airlines in 1992. Born Jan 1932, died Mar 2005.
