    Born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, December 13, 1915. As a school boy, watched the Gee Bee aircraft being built at the Springfield Airport. Entered Army Air Corps flight training in 1938; commissioned a 2nd LT in 1939. Held various command and staff positions in the U.S., Europe and Japan. Attained grade of Major General in 1966.
    Flew 100 sorties in WWII in the ETO. Shot down while strafing flak run in April 1944. POW in Stalag One for 63 months. Following WWII served two tours in the Pentagon in USAF Plans. 1955-1958 served in the American Embassy in Bonn to oversee rebuilding of the German Air Force.
