George B. Rose was commissioned in November of 1955 as a 2nd LT in the USAF. During his career George B. Rose served with the 778th Tactical Air Squadron, the 431st Air Refueling Squadron, the 34th Air Commando Group, the 8th Tactical Bomb Squadron, the 18th Field Maintenance Squadron as the Squadron Commander, the 37th Tactical Airlift Squadron, and the 316th Tactical Airlift Wing as Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor. He flew a total 256 combat missions as a Bombardier Navigator in SEA operations, including 30 over North Vietnam. Mr. Rose also served as the Chief of Base Aircraft Maintenance and completed a tour as Maintenance Inspector for the IG Office at Robbins AFB, GA. Maj. George B. Rose received the Air Medal with 9 OLCs and the Meritorious Service Medal. The aircraft that he served in included: the C-119, KB-50J, B-26, C-47, B-57, and the C-130. He retired from the USAF in June of 1976.
He then went on to work for the USN as a Civil Servant. Mr. Rose retired from Civil Service at CMAT on 3 July 1998. He has also received the thirty-year Government Service Award and numerous performance awards. He attended Edwards Military Institute, East Carolina University, and received his MPA from Golden State University.
He married Jean Simpson and fathered three sons (Barry, Chris, and Kevin). We are all very proud to call him father.
