    Born July 5, 1930 in Camden, Alabama; completed school there in 1948. Attended Auburn University, enlisted Aviation Cadet 1951, graduated Dec. 1952 Cadet Class 52H at Williams AFB. Schools and assignments follow: Combat Crew School, Nellis AFB 1953; Fighter Pilot F-86 Cannon AFB and Hahn AB Germany, 1956, (10th FB Sqdn). Tinker AFB and Ramstein AB Germany, F-84F and F-100 (458 SF Sqdn). Graduated Squadron Officer School 1958; Incirlik AB Turkey, F-100; Mather AFB and Nellis AFB, Bitburg AB Germany, F-105 (357th TFS); McConnell AFB and Korat AB Thailand, flew 41 combat missions then returned to Nellis; Returned to Takli AB Thailand, completed 111 missions over North Vietnam, awarded two Distinguished Flying Cross, and 18 Air Medals. Andrews completed his 22-year USAF career at Seymour Johnson AFB, flying the F-4. He continued flying in Civil Air Patrol and Air Taxi Service at Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he now resides.
