    Philip S. Bentley received his USAF training at Reese AFB, Texas. He was an Air Force pilot from 1967 to 1987. He flew the O-2A from 1968 to a974, the T-37 from 1974 to 1979, and the A-10 Thunderbolt II (Warthog) from 1979 to 1987. He served in Vietnam in 1969. He received the following decorations: Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious service Medal with 2 devices, Air medal with 7 devices, Air Force Commendation Medal with device, Distinguished Presidential unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding unit Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force overseas Short Tour Ribbon with device, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with device, Air Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 devices, Small Arms Expert marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, republic of Viet Nam Gallantry Cross with device, Combat Readiness Medal. He also served in Alaska, Texas, England, Germany, Korea and Arizona. He retired honorably as an Air Force Major in July 1987. He joined American Airlines in October, 1987. He flew the 727 and the MD-80. In June, 2004, he retired as an American Airlines Captain. He resides in Tucson, AZ. Captain Bentley is deeply respected and loved by his wife Jan, and sons Brandon and Alex.
