    Major Bryk was born in Cleveland, Ohio and joined the U.S. Air Force as an enlisted man in 1950. He entered primary pilot training as a cadet in 1953 at Spence Air Force Base (AFB), Moultrie, Georgia flying the T-6. He moved on to basic pilot training Web AFB, Big Spring, Texas flying both the T-28 and T-33. After receiving his wings and graduating as a second lieutenant in April 1954 he went on to gunnery, flying the T-33 Del Rio, Texas and the F-84 at Luke AFB, Arizona.

    His first assignment came in September 1954, to Reese AFB Lubbock, Texas where he instructed on the T-28 and B-25 aircraft until January 1958. He was then assigned to Strategic Air Command flying KC-97 tankers out of Kindley AFB, Bermuda until April 1963. His last assignment was Dover AFB, Delaware as an aircraft commander and flight instructor on the C-133 until June 1971.

    He retired as a Major and remained the Dover area. He received the Air Medal for flying numerous combat support missions in Vietnam. His total flight time was in excess of 9,600 flight hours.
