Major Dennis R. Davoren of Chicago, IL, entered the United States Air Force in 1986. Upon graduation from pilot training at Laughlin AFB, TX, he was assigned to fly B-52s at Griffis AFB, NY. Significant accomplishments at Griffis include selection as Wing Company Grade Officer of the Quarter in October 1990 and deployments to DESERT SHIELD/STORM finishing with 7 combat sorties and 118 hours of combat flight time. He finished his tour at Griffis as Wing Life Support Officer.

In 1994, Davoren was assigned to the 4th Air Operations Group as a Corp Air Liaison Officer based in Heidelberg, Germany. During OPERATION JOINT ENDEAVOR, he was assigned to the 1st Armored Division, 1st Brigade as part of the advanced team into Bosnia. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal from the Brigade commander for his efforts and he was named the 4th ASOG ALO of the Year for 1996.

Upon return to the States, he flew the T-34C at NAS Pensacola in the JUNT program. Flying over 1000 hours as an IP, he was named IP of the Quarter for the 4th quarter 1997. He finished his tour with the Navy as a Department Head in charge of training and received the Navy Commendation Medal.

In the summer of 1999, he was accepted for the position of U-2 pilot and is currently a U-2 IP with over 750 hours, 7 operational deployments, and over 400 combat hours in the U-2S and 138 in the B-52G. He had the distinction of flying the first operational U-2 sortie for OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. He is currently the functional flight pilot of the 99th.

Major Davoren is currently serving as California State President for the Air Force Association.
