    Major Donald S. Nisbett took advantage of an unusual opportunity when he was 17 years old in 1944. He accepted the offer of the Army Air Corps to enlist in the Air Corps Enlisted Reserve after passing the written and physical examinations for aviation cadet training. The war was over when he was called to active duty. He was an aircraft radio operator until he was discharged in 1947. After graduation from Michigan State University in 1951. he reentered active duty as a 2nd Lieutenant and entered pilot training. After graduation he had many varied assignments as flight instructor, pilot and air defense weapons director. His major assignments were as B-47 co-pilot in the 1950's and a C-150 aircraft commander and instructor in the 1960's. He was retired in
    1970 after 20 years of active duty and 5 years in the reserve forces.
