    Kenneth Horvath has spent most of his adult life involved in aviation. Prior to his graduation from college, Kenneth served 7 years in the U. S. Air Force and U. S. Air Force Reserves. He received his commission in the Air Force in 1966 and graduated from Pilot Training and was awarded his wings in October 1967. He flew the EC-47 in Vietnam from February 1968 to February 1969. Upon his return to the States, he flew the KC-135 and EC-135. His Air Force career included two combat tours in Vietnam that included over 200 combat missions supervising crews involved in reconnaissance and in aerial refueling. His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with seven Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Republic of South Vietnam Cross for Gallantry. He resigned from active duty in 1972 but continued his military involvement by becoming a member of the Kansas Air National Guard for 7 years where he flew the TC-39. He retired from the Air Force/Air National Guard in 1983 as a Major with 21 years of service.
    In 1972 he began a career in general and corporate aviation sales and management for Beech Aircraft Corporation where he flew the full line of Beech airplanes from the single engine Sport to the turbo prop King Air. He was on the North Carolina Department of Transportation Review Committee for the North Carolina Airport System Plan in 1991-1992, he was a member of the Guilford Technical Community College Aviation Studies Department Advisory Committee from 1988 to 1993, and he was treasurer of North Carolina Aviation Trades Association from 1990 to 1992. He is currently a member of the Q B's. During his military and civilian careers he has accumulated a total of 4500 flying hours.
