Major John P. Caffee was born Oct. 11, 1922 in Ada, Ohio.
He served as a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot for the 388th Bomber Group in England from early 1944 until May 1945. He flew a double tour of 50 missions. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and a Purple Heart.
