After his military service, Leonard started several businesses designing and manufacturing sophisticated C4I systems for the military. Those systems were used by all the services. His companies supported all services during their acceptance and operation of the wide range of innovative Air Defense systems being delivered .

During his military career he earned a Masters Degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School. As an active aviator and aviation engineer he studied and evaluated competing designs for the new Space Shuttle then in competition. He followed that competition closely. As a Vice President of his company in Huntsville, AL, he managed several contracts for NASA relating to the shuttle and other Aerospace endeavors.

Leonard has visited the museum and Udvar-Hazy Center and is very pleased with the exceptional success of General Dailey and his team in creating a wonderful museum experience. Both of his tours in Vietnam were served under General Dailey’s command. The General's exceptional leadership skills are evidenced in the Museum itself and the manner in which visitors are treated . Continuing success!
