    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Mr. Manuel T. Katsarelis

Started flying 1939 and continue into 2000 – age 81. Accumulated 4000 hours. Went through US Army flight training and flew in WW II. In 1944 flew my assigned C47 from US to Townsville, Australia. Most memorable flight – San Francisco to Hawaii. 15 hours 15 minutes. Most impressive military operation, “Returning to Corregidor, P.I.”. My unit dropped 503 Parachute Unit to recapture the island and return of MacArthur. I remember Lindbergh’s flight to Paris and started me thinking aviation. I still fly it. Belong to Smithsonian Air & Space Society, as well as the Smithsonian Institution Association.
