    Maren McKee Hodson , born in Oakland, California, now resident of Reston, Virginia, was a flight attendant for United Airlines from 1970-2003. Among her many flight assignments, she was part of the early cadre of stewardesses to fly the first scheduled transcontinental service of the McDonnell-Douglas DC-10 from Dulles to the west coast in 1972. In preparation for this service she participated in the inaugural ceremonies for this new aircraft.
    During her tenure at United, Mrs. Hodson became well-acquainted with many other aircraft including the DC8, Super DC8, B720, B727, B737, B747, B757, B767, B777, and A320. She was among the first crews to provide Trans-Atlantic service from Dulles and regularly flew to Amsterdam, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfort, Glasgow, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, Rome, and Zurich. Mrs. Hodson also crewed many United charter flights into the Caribbean and Central America as well as military charters to Kuwait.
    Along with her in-flight experience, Mrs. Hodson spent many years as a Professional Standards program representative to United for the Association of Flight Attendants. She was also active in many other areas of airline operation including safety, training of new flight attendants, and cabin service planning.
    Mrs. Hodson retired in May, 2003 after 33 years of service with United.
