Marjorie E. Kraengel learned to fly at Floyd Bennett Airport in Brooklyn, NY at age 22. The first woman pilot to solo at Floyd Bennett, she earned her Solo License in 1935 and her 3rd Class Radio-Telephone License in 1936. Her solo was in a high-wing Aeronca C-2 (Flying Bathtub) but she went on to master the Kitty Hawk and Waco F2 biplanes and eventually owned the Waco. At Floyd Bennett she was executive secretary at Erickson & Remmert, and early aircraft service company.
Mrs. Kraengel is a past Vice-President and Treasurer of the New York Branch of the Woman’s International Association of Aeronautics, a past member of the 99’s, a past Regent of the Anne Cary Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an officer in the Long Island Chapter of the Colonial Dames XVII Century.
