    Professor of Civil (Structural ) Engineering, Colorado State University, For Collins, CO. Faculty member participating in Colorado State University (CSU) component of NASA-sponsored Colorado Space Grant Consortium since its start in 1990, including as its Director 1998-2002). Since 1988 has conducted applied research work related to the return of humans to space through missions to the Moon, Mars, and other possible exploratory base locations. Much of this work has been on inflatable structures for human habitats. Other areas of his activity include lunar concrete and its uses in lunar construction, base life support systems and operations, and , starting in 20001, planetary protection issues associated with an initial human mission to mars.
