    MGEN Jacobson assumed the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, on March 1, 1987 and retired from that assignment on June 30, 1997.
    Born December 31, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mr. Jacobson graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. with a B.S. in Engineering and a commission as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1956; he received his pilot's wings in 1957. He earned an M.S. in Astronautics from the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio in 1962, and a second M.S. in Business Administration from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in 1966.
    Mr. Jacobson's early Air Force assignments included tours as a tactical airlift pilot, including a one-year assignment in Vietnam; as the project officer for the Draper-developed Titan 11 inertial guidance system; and as an action officer on the Air Staff in the Pentagon. In 1970 Mr. Jacobson began a series of assignments in the nation's space program, which included several technical program management responsibilities and command responsibility for satellite operations. As a Brigadier General he was assigned to the Space Shuttle Program Office at NASA Headquarters, and later was the Air Staff officer responsible for budget formulation and defense of the Air Force Space Program.
    In January 1983 he assumed his final Air Force post as Director of Special Projects, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, a part of the National Reconnaissance Office. He was promoted to Major General on April 1, 1993. MGEN Jacobson retired from the Air Force on February 28, 1987.
