?»?The Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded to me for a combat helicopter ranger team rescue operation that occured in South Vietnam on 31 August 1970. I want to dedicate this space to all of the officers and enlisted servicemen of C Troop, 2/17th Air Cavalry, 101st Airborne Division, Vietnam. Especially those that flew the UH-1H "Hueys," the AH-1G "Cobras" and the OH-6A "LOHs" from 3 Nov 1969 thru 24 Jun 1971. Their courage, dedication to duty, professionalism under fire has been an inspiration to me my entire life. Many of us continued on after Vietnam to serve in the United States Army and in civilian careers in support of aviation. We have seen a tremendous evolution in technology. God Bless...
