New York City can calim our mystery subject. If the Cincinnati symphyony had not folded during the BIG DEPRESSION, our mystery life would have been very different than the reality. This gifted young violinist was offered a place with that prestigious musical institution, then under the baton of Fritz Reiner; but the orchestra didn't survive the depression and our violinist's dream (along with millions of other American dreams) shattered. The violinist became a merchant, part of the family business. His hobby of photography turned into a full time activity with the U.S. Navy during World War II, where our subject served Several years in the Pacific theater. The Navy sponsored him in its Pensacola, Florida, School of Aerial and Groud Photography. The musical artist had become another kind of artist despite the daily necessity of running the family meat wholesale business, which eventually became his. A complex variety of talents, right?
He is a quiet man who speaks of his family with pride, concern, and love. After 40 years in a business that he ran successfully but never really enjoyed, he retired. The sad occasion of losing his wife of 28 years did start him in a direction that still brings him great satisfaction. North Shore Hispital in New York stat, where he spent so many unhappy hours, interested him in a job as a volunteer in medical photography. To this day he love the quiet of his dark room and still enjoys serving his community, especially in hospitals, with his photgraphic talents.

Does he still play his violin? Yes, but only for himself.

He came out to visit his son in Arizona a few years ago, met a beautiful lady, married this lovely woman, and lives happily, still energetically, in Tempe. For the last serval years he has been with us at Good Sam snapping great pictures for us at bazaars, balls, luncheons, and other special events. His infectious smile shows us the love h feel for people. You probably all know his face but what's his name? Milton Rothbart
