Served as an Inflight Refueling Specialist (Boom Operator) with the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves from 1979 to 1990, flying on KC-135A/E's and KC-10's. Flown in support of numerous Department of Defense directed missions worldwide. On one particular Coronet West mission in 1984, I stayed connected to an F-4 for over 75 minutes while transiting the Pacific en-route to Hickam AFB, HI, from March AFB, CA, due to the F-4 having receptacle problems. Normal air-refueling generally takes less than 15 minutes.
