Carlton served from Sept. 8, 1943 through Mar. 8, 1946. He was a combat aircrew member with Crew 56, 17th Squadron, 16th Group, 315th Wing, 20th Air Force. Carlton achieved the rank of staff sergeant while station in Quam. His crew flew on a B-29 named the “King Bee”.
